David Allen remembers Alan from student days at Burwood Teachers College in 1961-62, and met him by chance again in Wangaratta a year or two later. I was impressed – and not surprised – by the tribute in Saturday’s “Age”. He was a great bloke, with a fine sense of humour, and he clearly left a wonderful legacy. Condolences to the family.

Alan Crilly was indeed a great bloke . He will forever be remembered as the only male in a Teachers’ College trip to Perth amongst forty two females . The way he handled it made him legendary and much admired in his companion group. We reconnected in Hamilton Vic . and have followed the Crilly story ever since . Sincere sympathy to Marg and the family . (Hax ) Heather and Barry Docking
