Having the privilege to work with your Proud Wife, Mum and Nan, such a beautiful dedicated hard worker/ carer/ and friend all at ourAlcheringa days. Xxx -
Nan was a caring, supportive a grandmother and friend, she would always lookout for us. It didn’t take much to make her happy, a phone call, a card or a visit.
Nans cooking was off the scales, I could almost guarantee if she was coming to visit we would all gain 10KGs, Even the dog…
I always remember when nan would ask us all what we would like for dinner the first night she was there and we would all say with out a doubt Sausage rolls.
I know Nan is up there somewhere, keeping an eye on all of us.
We all love you and all miss you rest in peace Nanny Butch
Lots of love Cody -
Nan,
Today as we say goodbye we all reflect how wonderful and supportive you are and truly grateful to always have you there were needed.
From the first time we met when I was the new kid on the block and getting to know your youngest, I could see how you are always there for the family with no complaints.
Remember that first Christmas that Karinda and I were together, you offered on Christmas Eve to babysit Jake so that we could go out and catch up with friends and celebrate Christmas Eve together. I am sure by 3:00 AM you regretted that offer as In our 20’s, like most young couples that go out for a few quiet Christmas eve drinks, that turned into a big night. When we finally got home at some ridiculous time in the morning you were still there up and greeted us with a smile and giggled as tried to quietly play Santa Claus and deliver presents in Jake’s bedroom.
You know when you needed some work done on your home and we did those renovations? I thought to myself this will have to get me some browny points with the in laws and try and get the “favourite” son in law status as there was some tough competition out there.
Well I soon blew those points out of the water when Karinda and I announced we were moving interstate, well actually across the other side of the country. I have no doubt as we have discussed many times that was a difficult time for you to let go of your baby however once again there was no complaints and you were very supportive as we headed off on our new adventure to finally call Darwin our home.
It was great that you were always coming to visit, sometimes for holidays or sometimes because Karinda and I needed your support and assistance. We always knew if needed you would be on the plane in a heartbeat and with us for as long as needed, sometimes months at a time and for that I am so grateful.
So one word to describe you would be “tough”!
The one thing that always sticks in my mind is the picture in the toilet at your home.
That bird eating a frog and although the frogs head is in the bird’s mouth the frog has its hands strangling and clenching the birds neck and the catch phrase “never give up”.
From the time we met, I could see you as that frog “tough, stubborn and never giving up”
You were in a lot of pain, it was obvious by all the moans and groans coming out of the bathroom every time you had a shower, or continually needing your heat packs and ointments however you didn’t let that stop you from doing everything you could. Always battling on with life without a complaint and just getting on with it. I know where your daughter gets her tough and resilient attitude from.
Nan, you weren’t just Nan to us, you were also Nan to so many of our friends and our staff team members as well. We’re all going to miss your support and of course you’re great cooking.
Good luck up there, old mates got himself one “tough” bugger.
love Just, (your favourite son in law) -

Love from David and Pat Jackaman -
My Nan was one of the first women that I ever fell in love with. The warmth that I would feel when she hugged me and told me she loved me with a firm grip and a sneaky little bum tap as she looked up into my eyes, grinning from ear to ear is a feeling that I will always truely miss. She taught me how to love unconditionally and to always be thankful for what I had. She also taught me how to dip my biscuits in a hot cup of coffee right before bed, much to Pops disgust. And that our generation are soft as she pruned her beloved roses on a 43 degree summers day, blood running halfway down her leg, refusing to stop until the job was done… Or the sun had gone down and it was a little bit cooler… She may have been good at pointing out her own imperfections. But she was perfect to me. How lucky I was to have her.
